Access geolocation url https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/WebAPI/Using_geolocation?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Using_geolocation Agree to the pop-up saying share your location. You will see that Firefox will crash in latest versions. Please see my analysis below as last working version seems to be 18.0 Platform : Debian Linux Wheezy output of uname Linux debian 3.2.0-4-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 3.2.51-1 i686 GNU/Linux Firefox version : Firefox 25.0b9(Im not using iceweasel currently for this testing) Versions Tested successfully : 17.0 ESR, 17.0.1 esr,17.0.2 esr,18.0 Versions where it crashes : 18.0.1,18.0.2 ,19.0,19.0.1,19.0.2,19.0b4,19.0b5,19.0b6 20.0.1,23.0.1,25.0b9 Plugins : No plugins were enabled. Folder .mozilla was deleted and recreated for all the above version tests. Profile : There was nothing in the profile as I deleted the whole .mozilla folder each time I tested each of the above versions. So it seems that a regression was introduced between the release 18.0 (release date 01/08/2013) and 18.0.1(release date 01/18/2013) which causes a consistent crash. Crash report submitted https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-ad3e3736-7efc-4bc3-8d46-60dc12131018 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-08165aa7-ae05-4e2b-877a-c8ced2131025 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-f25fd0e0-c520-4d56-a86f-fb2222131025 and many more. This is consistently reproducible.
Reducing the importance of this defect as I tried on another GNU/Linux system and it is working fine. So my guess is there is some permissions issue or some other missing dependency which I will try and figure out.
Severity: major → normal
After searching thru some defects I confirm that this is a dup of 849204 .Also on the same machine where it was always crashing the aurora build of version 26a2 nightly build resolves this.
