Steps to reproduce:

Start Thunderbird.


Actual results:

Error: "Beim Bereitstellen des Kalenders mit der Adresse moz-abdirectory:// ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Er wird nicht verfügbar sein."
The Lightning tab can be viewed, but it does not contain any dates.


Expected results:

No Error.

A workaround is to manually install Lightning 2.6
I can confirm: 
v2.6.1 does not work with Thunderbird v24 on Ubuntu 13.10. (v2.7b1 does not work either). 
Reverting back to v2.6 of Lightning works. 

UI Description: 
there seem to be two effects: 
1. (all the time) the caldendar does not display any events (from neither local nor remote calendars)
2. (sometimes) the top calendar menu bar seems to appear twice (one below the other)

Its the same for me.
All fields are empty !
In fact, it works with rhe old version 2.6
Same problem here, I updated to Ubuntu 13.10 and got the exact same problem (no events, toolbar greyed out; double toolbar the first time it is displayed).
Philipp Kewisch contends at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/reviews/511708/ that the problem is Ubuntu's because they haven't updated the t-bird to 24.0.1. However, isn't better to protect the user by not updating Lightning if t-bird version isn't 24.0.1? Once there is binary compatibility then do the update!
The versions have to match:
  Thunderbird 24.0 needs Lightning 2.6;
  Thunderbird 24.0.1 needs Lightning 2.6.1.

Problem is already known and there is work going to provide a proper fix in Thunderbird.

Request from comment #5 is already in work in Bug 931420 but currently has to wait for the addons.mozilla.org admins to allow such a specific specification.
