Details
The introduction of pdfjs negatively affected the ability to use Adobe Reader, even after disabling pdfjs.
Previously I had Firefox configured to ask how to open PDF, defaulting to run Adobe Reader. Adobe Reader was set to not run inside the browser, because I find it much easier to use when it runs as standalone program.
Now after disabling pdfjs Firefox doesn't go back to asking, instead it always wants to save pdf as file, and only asks where to save it. The config option which app to use for pdf is now set to Adobe Reader (so why does it want to save?). After resetting this to ask, it does ask again, but now defaults to save, what is differrent from previous version, and is probably in most cases not what people want.
Is it possible to restore the previous behaviour by setting some preferences?
You can try to delete the file mimeTypes.rdf in your Firefox profile (type about:support to open your profile).
In addition, do you have the Adobe Reader plugin enabled in Firefox?
Because, if that's the case, you should have the choice between the Adobe plugin and the Adobe application (it depends if you want to open the PDF directly inside Firefox or not).
