On Linux you have to use the correct Lightning + Thunderbird combination due to a bug in Thunderbird. For Thunderbird 24.0 use Lightning 2.6 For Thunderbird 24.0.1 use Lightning 2.6.1

Ubuntu update Thunderbird, then Thunderbird update extensions ...
