We often run a reindex job on -dev, when implementing new features etc. It's a bit annoying to have to ssh to the right machine and tail -f the logs to know when reindexing is finished. Maybe we could add a banner on -dev in zamboni, that'd tell you if a reindexing is in progress / when it started ? We have a Reindexing model that would tell us that. Alternatively, maybe it could be a good job for one of our IRC bots ?
