Bug 879982 introduces the "Email Link" button for Australis. Share should probably handle this, and can once we have providers that offer email. In the meantime, we should get a clear idea on the UX between the two. A background note: In the future, the share panel will grow a "find service providers" panel that will allow us to show the share button by default. Users will then be able to add share providers from Firefox. Here is a possible way to handle this: We can do something similar for default email. There could be another panel, or perhaps it is a button on the panel mentioned above, that allows the user to use their system app (e.g. thunderbird) to send the url.

Similar issue: On Mac it would be interesting to also integrate the OS-provided "providers" (like Twitter, Facebook, vimeo, etc.), this is essentially the same as the "Email case". See also how Safari handles this: It pops up a list of "providers" where a click on an entry then launches the provider in the browser (except Email which launches the default client).

SocialAPI was removed from Firefox 57 and is no longer available in any current release.
