Details
Steps:
- Open http://testno.de/touch/ on your Firefox OS phone
- Move 2 fingers vertically, horizontally
Expected:
- Always get 2 touch points visualized
Actual:
- When 2 points align horizontally, 1 touch point moves to the middle and the other touch point is ended.
- On Hamachi, when the touch points align on any axis they get ended.
- Video for a ZTE Open on 1.1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwGEJfwuhtY (same result on Keon)
This breaks multi-touch games. In case of multi-touch controls that are horizontally aligned the game is unplayable.
Tested and confirmed
- Ikura with 1.1
- Keon with 1.2
- Hamachi with 1.1

Nothing to do with graphics. This is either:
1) [most likely] low-cost touchscreen controller in use on these devices that doesn't distinguish between enough points;
2) a gonk widget bug.
(1) can be checked by getting an equivalent-hardware phone running Android and running a touch test tool on it.
(2) can be checked by taking a Nexus 4 with a Firefox OS build and running the same test here, to see how many touch points show up.

Thanks for putting this in the right bucket, Vlad.
- Leo with 1.2 gets 3 touch points and doesn't exhibit the same-axis problem
- N4 I get 5+ touch points
I don't have devices for either device. I flashed Android on a ZTE Open but it is unusable as the hardware home button doesn't work.
As it differs between devices, it seems to be a hardware problem we can't fix. Could it be a problem that QC could help debug?
Ugh, so shitty touch controllers. I don't think QC can do anything here, the touchscreen/touch controller is part of the package the OEM puts together, not part of QC's chipset :(

FWIW, every device has a different touch controller. We also try to check the touch controllers, but they tend to get swapped out even at the last second. We'll have to address each device individually.
Joe, can you ask about this?

This is HW limitation, multi touch only can work well in one direction

This problem cannot be reproduce on Alcatel One Touch Fire:

As you can see from the video, multiple touch works fine when aligned horizontally

I think you have the right escalation points already on the bug - the TAMs are the right group to work with here if it's partner related.
