Details

(Keywords: feature, perf, ux-userfeedback, Whiteboard: [dogfood] [c=feature p= s=2013.11.08 u=])

Phone:
Alcatel One Touch

Firefox OS Version:
1.1.0.0-prerelease

Issue Details:
I'm used to using Swype on Android, and typing on the Firefox OS phone keyboard with two fingers is slow. As an obvious enhancement, anything that would make typing faster than typing a single letter at a time would be great (something like Swype, or autocomplete). If there's a way to turn a feature like that on already, it's certainly not obvious.
Component: BetaTriage → Gaia::Keyboard
There are a bunch of issues related to this triaged for 1.2 and 1.3.

This also isn't tied to any of the keyboard improvement meta bugs, which are dupes of this issue. I propose to resolve this as dupe since this is covered for 1.2-1.4 in various issues.
Closing per comment #2. Covered by keyboard perf improvements tracked by bug 835404.

Hmm, I'm not sure this is actually a duplicate of bug 835404. The bugs underneath 835404 seem to have to do with the implementation. I'm requesting a feature (a better UI, something like Android's Swype feature). I wouldn't be surprised if there was already a bug on this, but 835404 doesn't seem to be the one.

Bug 924662 may be the more appropriate dup. Bug 908487: Dynamic hit target resizing, is one of it's dependencies that will make end-user typing faster. Bug 920431 and its related bugs track work to enable custom keyboards.
