Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20131025151332

Steps to reproduce:

Open a Firefox instance. Press the close [X] button.

Actual results:

Nothing. The button UI shows the button being pressed, but the window remains open.

Expected results:

The window should close.

Note that Alt-F4 will close the window, as will selecting Close from the WinXP taskbar icon menu. But the close button does nothing.
Further experimentation shows that for 2 of my 3 FF profiles, the window will close on a *second* press (but not the first), which suggests this may be config-related at least in part.
OK, looks like this is caused (or surfaced) by an interaction with the Tab Mix Plus 0.4.1.1.01 add-on. If I disable that, the close button works normally. Leaving this bug open, as it's still not clear whose bug it is, since the same version of Tab Mix Plus did not cause problems in FF 24.
Update: after an email exchange with the Tab Mix Plus developer, I upgraded to T.M.P. version 0.4.1.2.02, and that solved the problem. Closing this bug, though still not clear why there was no problem with earlier FF versions.
