We have a number or "policy" documents that have been created around our products and interactions with partners. These policies are currently published in a variety of places - including the wiki and have different levels of oversight. I would like to propose that we create a space for policy documents under the mozilla.org domain in order to: 1. consolidate our policy documents 2. have a more official looking template (than the wiki) for publishing documents 3. place a somewhat higher bar on changes (the wiki is open to change by all) Some examples of policy documents: Firefox privacy policy: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/legal/privacy/firefox.html Performance regressions policy: http://www.mozilla.org/hacking/regression-policy.html Firefox OS User Agent Partner Changes Policy: https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G/User_Agent/Partner_Changes_Policy UA override list policy: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Evangelism/UA_Override_List_Policy B2G UA device model inclusion requirements: https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G/User_Agent/Device_Model_Inclusion_Requirements Web API exposure policy/guidelines: https://wiki.mozilla.org/User:Overholt/APIExposurePolicy
There is already the Official Mozilla Policies page :) http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/governance/policies/
Excellent. Pretty much just what I was looking for. For reference, the source of this page is located at https://github.com/mozilla/bedrock/blob/master/bedrock/mozorg/templates/mozorg/about/governance/policies.html Two follow up questions: 1. Is there a template to use when creating a new policy to be housed under mozilla.org? 2. Are there any restrictions to listing policies on this page?
Hi Lawrence - You could use this page as a template http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/governance/policies/security-group/tld-idn/ And any additional questions you have could be answered either by the Sandstone style guide: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/styleguide/websites/sandstone/ Or by a mozilla.org developer in the #www IRC channel - in particular you could ask sgarrity, craigcook, agibson, or jpetto I'm happy to answer any additional questions. Best, Jen
Jishnu - Are there any restrictions to listing policies on the policies page on mozilla.org? Is there a process for publishing an official Mozilla policy?

Oh, and thank you Jennifer. With answers to the questions that I posed to Jishnu in comment 4, I think I have what I need to proceed.
Hi Lawrence - there is already a plan for most of these docs - some of them need to be hosted separately for each user case - let's please touch base before changing any of this. The legal docs are undergoing a complete overhaul and the partner centric ones will be a part of a more comprehensive site for partners. I'm more than happy to work with you on this but we should loop in all the relevant folks for each kind of policy/process doc.

Glad to hear that there is already a plan. Perhaps all that is needed is to ensure that we include some of the docs currently hosted on the wiki (they may already be included) and ensure there is a way to add new docs in the future. I'm happy to contribute where it makes sense. Please let me know how I can be of help.
