User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/30.0.1599.101 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: Installing bugzilla with the instructions given in the Bugzilla documentation page is confusing for a user installing bugzilla in Ubuntu/Linux with latest apache2,mysql server. link:-http://www.bugzilla.org/docs/4.2/en/html/configuration.html Actual results: in 2.2.4.1.1. Apache httpd with mod_cgi To configure your Apache web server to work with Bugzilla while using mod_cgi, do the following: Load httpd.conf in your editor. In Fedora and Red Hat Linux, this file is found in /etc/httpd/conf. The line is misleading as the following insertions are to be done in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default The steps for ubuntu/Linux with latest apache2 server is missing. Expected results: The following should have been entered into the /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default <Directory /var/www/bugzilla> AddHandler cgi-script .cgi Options +ExecCGI DirectoryIndex index.cgi index.html AllowOverride Limit FileInfo Indexes Options </Directory>

Per http://askubuntu.com/questions/61935/how-do-i-install-bugzilla, the right file to edit is /etc/apache2/apache2.conf. And it seems you could also use /etc/apache2/httpd.conf.

And it seems you could also > use /etc/apache2/httpd.conf Placing the code in httpd.conf also works but gives you an internal server error, if you paste the same <Directory> //code </Directory> statements as given in http://www.bugzilla.org/docs/4.2/en/html/configuration.html it will work only if we add <Directory> /*code*/ AllowOverride Limit FileInfo Indexes Options instead of AllowOverride Limit FileInfo Indexes //code </Directory> The 'Options' is missing in the original documentation.
(In reply to 01tonythomas from comment #2) > The 'Options' is missing in the original documentation. It is not missing. The documentation is for Bugzilla 4.2, which doesn't need 'Options'. If you install Bugzilla 4.4, then you need to read the documentation for 4.4, which has 'Options' specified.
Invalid per comment 3.
