you don't see anything in the UI, like "Not Responding" in the title bar of the thunderbird window? Reproduces in safe mode? (Help | Restart...)

In Safe Mode with all Add-Ons deactivated, the behaviour is the same. No reaction when pressing DEL or saying Delete from the various menu entries.

Is this correctly set up as a POP account?

This is correctly set up as POP3 account - means sending and receiving is fine.
I have just seen that on a second account deleting is possible.
The email provider is the same for both accounts. So why does it work on the one and not on the other?
Anything in tools->error console?
What about rightclick folder->properties->repair?

Any idea...?
Hello all,
just one information that I detected this morning.
I have seen that in the account the trash icon was missing.
I deleted all trash files from the storage area and one was generated
again for the global acount when I restarted TB. I copied it to my account
and now it appears with correct icon again.
Deleting is fine - again - now.
One interesting question could be - who deleted the trash file?
Thanks all for your help.

Interesting observation. I think the Trash can't be redirected to other account (as Sent, Templates, Drafts can be) so every account must have one.
So there is probably a bug that TB did not recreate the Trash folder when it went missing.
