I have noted that the Saving File progress window on Mac build 2001080304 opens too narrow to fit the 4 buttons (Cancel/Close, Pause, Launch, Reveal Location). This is in the Modern theme that I've see the effect. The download I was doing this evening was from the Apple ADC site. It seems to me that sometimes this dialog has the Pause buttons ... and then the window is too narrow ... and other times there are only 3 buttons (no Pause) and then the buttons fit the window width. I checked for other reports like this, but couldn't find any (or couldn't frame the right questions to reveal them). I will keep trying to determine what conditions lead to 3 buttons vs. 4 buttons. Later ... Dale
I've done more exploring of the context for this bug. I've fond that the Saving File progress window only seems to have the Pause button when it's doing and ftp transfer. I tried downloading from ftp.mozilla.org under two different protocols. When downloading from <http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/...>, there was no Pause buttons in the Saving File dialog window and the button spacing permitted the window to display the complete Reveal Location button. When downloading from <ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/...>, the Saving File progress window had a Pause button between Cancel and Launch buttons and the Reveal Location button was chopped off by the right edge of the window. The window seems to open the same width whether or not the Pause button is present. Unfortunately this is not wide enough to contain the 4 buttons present when doing an ftp-protocol download. (I also assume that the Pause button appears only when the ftp server is capable of supporting Pause.) The window needs to be created wide enough to contain the 4 buttons even when the Pause button is omitted for sutuations where the pause function is not available. Dale
More on this bug. It does not show in Windows NT 4. The ftp Saving File progress window opens with enough width to accommadate the Pause button with space to spare. It appears to be a Mac-specific problem and, although I've observed it in Mac OS 9.1, I suspect it's not limited to that version of the classic Mac OS. Dale

sounds like a dup of bug 79889. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 79889 ***

NO!! This is NOT a duplicate of 79889 ... I filed that bug too. This bug has the window created not wide enough ... Bug 79889 had the window created NOT TALL enough, though I may not have made that clear in the short description. I don't know that bug 79889 was ever actually solved ... I think it just went away. there is another difference ... 79889 was a bug present across operating systems, but this one is present ONLY on Mac OS and, I've now confirmed, on Mac OS X (carbon) builds. It does NOT happen on WinNT 4. I do NOT think this can be resolved as a duplicate ... well, at least not a duplicate of 79889 ... but I won't toggle the reopen bit myself. Later ... Dale

dale, originally bug 79889 was filed for the dialog not being wide enough [see the first attachment/screenshot]...so i guess it has morphed. ;) could you pls attach screenshots of what you're seeing? thx a lot!
se: You're right, the first screenshot in bug 79889 shows what I'm seeing in Mac OS 9.1 & X except the current situation has more severe clipping. I made a screenshot and posted it in the preceding message here. The second screenshot in 79889 shows what I see in WinNT 4 (although it wasn't taken on an NT 4 machine). I discovered that I had actually reported 81853 and that it was mistakenly merged with 79889 .... part of the morphing that occurred. No matter now ... you have the screenshot you asked for. Good hunting on this bug ... Dale
