Details

Buri, while running:

Gaia cc9fec48957c9d217221d403aac4b5f35a826dd6
SourceStamp 16949049f03d
BuildID 20131110040200
Version 28.0a1

STR:
1. Select an album to play from the music app
2. Press the power button to lock the screen
3. Select the next or previous button to advance the track

Expected: It would advance the track
Actual: Nothing happens

In the regular build I lose the adb connection when the lockscreen event happens, so I will have to try another way to get the logcat

Similar to Bug 934037 but this is the lockscreen.
I managed to reproduce this once (accidentally) on an Ikura. I'll try to find a way to consistently reproduce this. In the meantime, I'm CCing Gene Lian, who implemented the IAC API. My guess is that we're still having some issues with the Inter-App Communications hanging.

Marcia, a few questions:

1) Does the play button work when you hit this bug? You should be able to tell because the play icon shows/hides in the utility tray when you tap the play button.
2) How often do you experience this issue? All the time?
3) If you exit the music app and reopen it, does the issue persist?
4) If you restart the device entirely, does the issue persist?
Flags: needinfo?(gene.lian)
blocking-b2g: --- → 1.3?

Here are the answers, using Buri with 1.2 base image:

Gaia 7243b75041c93bc7deb240131748d0b164f3f0b0
SourceStamp 7b014f0f3b03
BuildID 20131113040200
Version 28.0a1

(1) The play button works, but pressing the pause button does nothing (the music continues playing)
(2) Issue happens all the time for me even after restarting the music app.
(3) If I restart the device, it works properly using this build.
We used to have a similar issue at Bug 915898 which should have been solved, though. I'll look into this again.

I'm wondering the most complete solution should be working on Bug 915898.

                                                                ^^^^^^^^^^
                                                                Sorry, I mean bug 928389.

Just give it a try. I cannot reproduce on V1.3 in any way. Does this bug happen on V1.2?

It sounds like a Gaia bug to me if "play" works but "pause" fails. IAC API shouldn't be award of the content of app's operations.

This might actually be bug 934011. Interestingly, both that and bug 934037 were filed on the same day, 3 days after the bug that broke this was filed.
Marcia: Now that bug 934011 is landed, could you test this again?

Buri, using:

Gaia c26480b22ce28c812c347290dd4bad090d83db6f
SourceStamp 4f993fa378eb
BuildID 20131120040202
Version 28.0a1

This now works fine. I tested using the initial STR in Comment 0 - Play and Pause buttons work, as do the next and previous controls.
