See bug 937461: the behavior here will change. We should get apps to stop relying on the old behavior.

The question is how to hunt down those apps, if any.

Boris, you've now run scans on the packaged apps on the marketplace. Anything left to do here?

I've identified three apps that might actuall have an issue here, all by the same author. I mailed the author (you were cc'ed). I guess now we wait for them to respond...

In any case, that's much less impact than I was afraid of.
My question was, is there a reason to keep this bug open?

Either way it doesn't seem like there's enough content out there to prevent us from moving forward with flipping behavior.

Possibly we could file a TE bug on the author whose apps might be problematic so that if we don't hear back we can mail them again. But having a tracker but such as this one just for that doesn't seem needed.
Ah, fair.
