Hi Gordon, 

I know we normally request the snippet translations in the snippet/campaign but because we are trying to compile those with the donation page text translations we figured it was okay. But let us know if this needs to be separated and where the correct place would be for localization of the "donation" web page.

Core :: Localization is more for stuff that requires code changes to handle. I've already moved this bug to Mozilla Localizations :: Other, where similar requests for translations are living nowadays. Your request itself should be fine.

No idea honestly how Foundation requests are managed nowadays (last l10n example that left me completely puzzled is WebMaker), it's the first time I get one.

Let's try to CC a few localizer for German, French, and Brazilian Portoguese. If I need to manage these as well, we definitely need more strategy ;-)

Also, I spoke with Jean about how to correctly make these localization requests in the future and moving forward I will follow the correct protocols. Can you please attach a text file with the strings you need to localize? 
Ideally using the .lang format (example http://svn.mozilla.org/projects/mozilla.com/trunk/locales/en-GB/main.lang)

All localizers are still in CC, so I hope they'll find time to look into that.

Hi, Flod has already asked my first question ;-), but I'll just share a few other comments/thoughs on this page:

I can't shake the feeling that we already translated a donation page like that (Join Mozilla, maybe?). Might be something to reuse?

I'd also like to kindly request that the list of country names be taken from "wherever makes it unnecessary to translate again". I'm pretty sure we already have localized lists of country names somewhere (AMO maybe?).

Not sure about the "State/Province" field, but can that go completely for countries not listed there?

Lastly, I can already guess that whatever the translation for the credit card expiry date will be, it's too long for the field. At least the month field will probably need to be extended a few pixels.

Hi, I am double checking on whether there already exists a donation page translation in PT, DE, FR, but the new page has several text updates (including checkbox language) so it may still be necessary to translate. I will do my best to save you work :)

If there exists a list of country names, I am happy to re-use. Can someone explain "AMO" and point me in a direction to gather the list?

I am checking with our developer on the possibility to omit State/Province drop down, and increasing space and size for expiry date.

Hello, I reviewed the past donation page translations and unfortunately they were primarily for a small audience (attendees of Mozfest) and some of the language is outdated. Given that this is intended to be seen by a much larger audience (Firefox & You email list and snippet audiences) there are new translations needed. (Also the previous translations didn't include Portuguese.)

I'm attaching the translations needed in a .lang format. Please let me know if I can do anything more to be helpful.

Great questions! Here goes:

1) Thanks for the instruction on country titles, I will pass these on to our developers;
2) The error message is included, it's "Please correct the following:" and "Okay"
3) I confirmed that Paypal accepts currencies from all 3 locales. We are aware that these options are limiteing for non-U.S. donors and we are working hard to expand options -- including pay-by-carrier, pay by SMS, and other gateways that are more common. I will add pay-by-wire to our list of options to explore, for sure (thanks!) For this first year, we are limited by capacity. Please stay tuned as we are definitely excited about the expansion of donor gateways as resources allow. :)

Hi Michael -- that is certainly possible! Though we are on a very tight timeline so if I share it with you Friday 11/22 (US-PST) it will go live for initial limited tests on Monday 11/25. For any serious errors we should make those changes as early as possible next week.

Thanks, right now I see a few issues with the German translation:

1) The field for „other amount“ could use just another pixel or so, right now the last letter is cut off at the end.
2) The field for „Exp. month“ needs to be extended, there are two characters missing right now.
3) In the error messages we lack the translation of the states that require a province. („Gliedstaat (für die USA, Australien, Brasilien, Kanada, Irland, Mexiko, Südafrika, oder Schweden)“).
4) Also in the error messages, the string for the privacy policy is wrong. „Datenschutzerklärung beschrieben“ should be changed to something like „Zustimmung zur Datenschutzerklärung“.
5) The order of „amount“ and the currency sign needs to be reversed. In German it should be e.g. „3 $“ instead of „$3“.

Also one question: do we still get the translated country and state names? I don’t like the idea or leaving them untranslated.
