Note that I did test this on a phone that appeared to be running nightly (not on a keon) and I saw the same behavior.

Possible issue:

The messaging app will sometimes rotate to landscape mode when the phone is flipped on its side, but most of the time it does not.


I do notice that the firefox app will immediately pick up an orientation change and will switch to landscape mode quickly.

Actually, the Messaging app is not supposed to rotate to landscape mode at all ;)

When did that change? Landscape mode is soooo helpful when the keyboard is tiny -- it really reduces the number of errors when typing because the buttons are bigger.

This is like this since the start.

We had preliminary support in bug 869434 but it never worked good enough and was not reprioritized. I agree this would be a welcome addition.

ThereWhat I'm interested in is the cases where it _does_ rotate, because this can show a bug somewhere. I think I've seen it on my 1.1 device too but could never narrow it to a 100% reproducible test case.
