Firefox crashed for me today <https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/7103f437-ef81-4b88-ab6f-028462131118> and when I restarted, it had lost all of my tabs and windows, except for two pinned tabs.

FWIW I really wished there was some way for me to provide some information in order to diagnose these kinds of bugs.

A few things: - this looks like Nightly, so there should be an upgrade backup called sessionstore.bak-buildid; - do you know at which stage this crashed?

(In reply to comment #2) > A few things: > - this looks like Nightly, so there should be an upgrade backup called > sessionstore.bak-buildid; I only have one file with that name pattern (sessionstore.bak-2013111809413) which has been created after the sessionstore data went away, and doesn't contain the old data. > - do you know at which stage this crashed? At which stage? I left Firefox unattended and went to lunch, and saw the crash reporter dialog when I came back.

Note that I believe my Nightly was a few days old before I hit this.

(According to the update history, it was the Nov-11 nightly.)

(In reply to comment #5) > (According to the update history, it was the Nov-11 nightly.) Which means that when I restarted the app after the crash, I first installed an update to the Nov-18 nightly, in case that matters.

> At which stage? I left Firefox unattended and went to lunch, and saw the crash reporter dialog when I came back. I just wanted to know if this was during startup. Obviously not. (In reply to :Ehsan Akhgari (needinfo? me!) from comment #6) > Which means that when I restarted the app after the crash, I first installed > an update to the Nov-18 nightly, in case that matters. That's what erased your backup, I'm afraid.

That's not the intended behavior, is it?

This is the intended behavior at the moment: backup during each upgrade. We could keep two backups instead of one, though.
