The rules on the current page are old and out of date. The page should be removed. Thanks.
Thanks Matej. Big +1 for this...this policy is out of date and tends to cause confusion whenever people find it.

Perhaps the best move would be to keep the URL alive, but redirect it to http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/styleguide/communications/translation/ instead.

Mike, can you give us an estimate of how long it would take something like this to happen?

Not long, just need to prioritize with everything else. I'll add it to our backlog.

Is this also obsolete? http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/foundation/trademarks/l10n-website-policy/

* www.mozilla-europe.org has been merged into www.mozilla.org
* www.mozilla-japan.org has been merged into www.mozilla.jp where the Mozilla Japan team is translating
The only policy we want to remove is the one surrounding how we translate our brand names. If this page ends up redirecting to http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/styleguide/communications/translation/, those other references should be fine. Thanks.

CCing a few l10n people here.
This bug is actually a dupe of bug 442671, and it's not resolved yet because the branding changes don't reflect the current status of our implementations.

Hi Axel. Can you explain what that means?

Bug 939902 - Remove outdated l10n trademark policy
I reverted the commit above on 12-16 pending resolution of discussion here.
Axel, can we go ahead and remove this now?
I'm moving that to Peiying, who's leading the conversation.

This topic is brought up again recently. It involves multiple parties with different perspectives. We hope to have clearer guideline soon.

Finally we have some progress to report. The creative director and I have agreed to address this issue in phases.

For this first phase, we will *NOT* touch Brand names (trademark/registered marks). Product names alone and product names mixed with Brand names can be considered for localization. There could be a few exceptions. Right now this list of names is going through legal review. Will announce the list to the communities as soon as I have the signoff.

Looks like it has been removed in Bug 442671. The bug is somehow private but the relevant PR can be found at https://github.com/mozilla/bedrock/pull/2048
