Actual results: Alert message says I have 1528 new messages. (see attached) Expected results: Alert message should have accurate count of new messages (in this case 1).

Please back up your mail data of the account in question (see account settings -> server settings -> Local directory for where the file are stored). Then on the Inbox, try right click -> properties -> repair.

Sorry about that, I should have posted back right away. The Inbox repair fixed the problem. :-)
