It's not obvious that the Persona signin is the same as "Register as a Mozillian." I'd like to add a prominent button right on the front page, above the fold, that says "Join Mozillians.org" and takes you to the persona/signup process.

This is somewhat urgent, as once we've got that, we can tie a bunch of other outreach efforts into it.
This has been proposed in the past. To date, our response has been that Mozillians.org was not actively seeking to grow its membership (since its membership was initially conceived as core contributors to the project, not casual visitors to the site); already contains thousands and thousands of abandoned accounts; and we therefore should not prioritize making signup easier.

It's worth considering this request again in light of the numerous conversations happening all around the organization about what it means to be a Mozillian[0], how to swell the ranks of Mozillians[1] to a million or more, and how to resolve some outstanding concerns about the current signup process on Mozillians.org[2].

That being said, those conversations and their technical implementations are unfolding at an organic pace. Can you please link to the bugs that describe the other outreach efforts you mention? Perhaps they'll inform the conversation or add urgency to it. Meanwhile, I think this bug does depend on some consensus emerging from the conversations underway.

Right now, we've got a number of separate initiatives underway to do developer outreach in various quarters.

Ask.mozilla.org: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9

Code Firefox: http://codefirefox.com/about

Stack Overflow's /r/firefox and /r/mozilla tags: http://stackoverflow.com/r/firefox

... as well as the imminent reworking of the Contribute page - http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/contribute/

and work on the internal contributor-tracking thing that JDM and Pierros are working on. With all that going on, we really need to be able to send people to Mozillians to sign up and earn badges and all that good stuff, and we need it sooner than later.

Are there better links for these? They're not working as expected.
Not sure why the bugzilla one got truncated:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=934733

... is what it should be.

http://stackoverflow.com/r/mozilla - works, and the /firefox one _should_ work, but apparently doesn't? Welp.
This may be a separate bug, but I think the longer term fix is to completely remove the burden of having new contributors need to discover mozillians.org and figure out how to create a profile.

We should have visibility into the contributions that are taking place and should be able to invite people to create a profile whenever they start being active. This will help us expand the site to include people who have never heard of mozillians.org before.

FWIW, we've started looking at how this would work by mapping out where inviting people to create a profile on mozillians.org would fit on the webdev contribution pathway (see step #3).

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Contribute/Conversion_points#Webdev

I think a good next step would be to implement that and then evaluate how to expand this to other contribution opportunities.

This is an RFE specific to mozillians, which is decom'ed.
If this is found to pertain to people.mozilla.org then please open a new issue.
