I'm using windows *without* java installed. I think we may be crashing trying to
bring up java.

with without java, worked ok forme on today's trunk 0813 on NT and 2000. Jud, 
can you please try again?
I'm just using NS 6.1 which does crash. I'm closing as works for me as this has
been addressed on the trunk.
