Unfortunately, the removal of the “tabs on top” option puts tabs exactly where I don't want them.

I recall reading the reasons given why they were moved up; I still disagree. The toolbars are not page content and (except for any toolbars below the page content area) do not belong below the tabs.
“Tabs On Bottom” puts things back as they should be – well, almost. Tabs other than the current one have a thick grey lower border. WRONG.

The day will come when, for some of us, the UI is almost entirely fixes and workarounds for developer-induced UI layout breakage. Perhaps it's time to look at alternative browsers.
After update ff to 29.0: Tabs are on top even when browser.tabs.onTop set to false. WTF ?
This should be reopened.

There are good reasons to have "tabs on top". But there are also many good reasons to have them on bottom!

This is something only a user setting (and might it be hidden) can settle without snubbing a whole lot of users.
Perhaps the chain of "duplicate" reports should be seen as an indicator that removing this feature was a mistake...
What I've red so far mozilla was slowly preparing users for tabs on bottom removing.
1st was deleting the possibility from main options of the FF and force users to use about:config browser.tabs.onTop false.
2nd was that the tab bar did not disapear when u had only one tab active.
3rd and the last was complete removal of bottom tabs in 29.0 version and force users to use addons that may not work properly. Also what I've red was that it was caused by the amount of code they had to maintain and they thought that removing bottom tabs will save some of their time.
On top of that their main argument to prove them right was that all other browsers have tabs on top and even if that will make ppl change browser they will end up using top tabs anyway coz for example chrome has only top tabs. So my question is: What is the f*cking purpose of creating a browser that will look like all other browser while at the same time will not offer nothing more than other browsers? Tabs on bottom was good looking feature and there was NO REASON to drop it.

- What i care about other browsers? Its like going to supermarket and find the exact same soups there 2x but from two producers - what a waste of space where i could have more different soups instead of limitation. Why i need something different when it is the same? If all browsers are the same than i can stay at IE or Chrome. If all lemmings jumps down from the cliff to die - then i have to do it, too? Stupid argument.

My main argument of having the tab list direct over the content (website) is, that, when i move my mouse the point where my mouse curser is staying the most time (5cm from top and 5cm from right of the screen) it is _one mouse_ move to the tab bar.

If the tab bar is on top, i need _two moves_ of the mouse and it happens more often that i click then the wrong thing because i have to move it over other clickable stuff from other toolbars. With one move its more exact and wrong clicking happens 0%. How perfect is this?

In every UI-Design it is a big mistake to make user make _more actions_ as needed and give _more possibilities_ to make mistake.

BOTH is happening with moving the tablist to top (for me).

So, the result is: I hate to have the tab list on top of my browser.

p.s. After trying out Stylish and the Classic Theme Restorer i just went back to Firefox 28 and will stay there.
There is addon called tabs on bottom (australis) but it fails from time to time but I agree that staying on FF 28.0 is far better option than loading unnecessary stuff into the browser with addons.

> My bug is about the lack of an option to turn off disabled tabs, not about it no longer working.

Your bugs duplicated to this are asking to restore tabs-on-bottom, which isn't something we plan on doing. Technically a dupe of some other wontfix bug, but isn't abuse.
I'm restricting further comments on this bug since this is pretty clearly just going to gather complaints. Tabs-on-top has been the default for a long time.
