At a low priority, I am working on redoing the trychooser to be simpler and less reliant on string parsing, and have fewer brittle dependencies on specific bits of config viscera. From a user-facing point of view, it should enable implementing something that makes sense to people, where they can predict what builders they'll get with a given syntax string.

Also, with try_by_default, it seems like it'd make sense for try to support pretty much all builders, instead of just the base ones it allows now. All the rest will just be off by default.

I'm creating this bug now because I've mentioned it to people, and they've wanted to be informed of progress.

This is just the bare beginning. I doubt it runs at all.

This is also tagged [trychooser] because I hope to make it start generating a JSON file that can be used for the various trychooser tools (eg the web UI and the hg extension).
