The log on the server is growing, we should have better logging than stdout, including log rotations.

I can add a /etc/logrotate.d/ config for those which should take care of it. What do you mean by "better logging than stdout"?

yeah, we should start with logrotate on /var/log/program-*.log. Do we need to update puppet for the logrotate.d content?
