Steps to reproduce:

Start Firefox->Not able to interact with tabs ("mouse over" menu not working, unable to change tabs) plus the active tab is not highlighted. The closing button (X) works, though and I can open new tabs using the (+) button

Can you reproduce this problem in safe mode (Help > Restart with Add-Ons Disabled)?

I just disabled Tab Mix Plus Extension - that broke interaction in the last build. The highlighting was broken before (~about a week or two).

Oh, and also, as you're on Windows 8, is this a problem with the "Classic" version of Firefox, or the "Touch" version (apparently we can't say 'metro' anymore...)

I'm using classic, but I think this can be set to resolved - I should have deactivated the extensions and interaction works now that the extension is off.

Additional info: the changelog for the Tab Mix Plus extension even reads for their latest dev-build: 

"Fixed: Selected tab messed-up after bug 940262 landed on Nightly (Australis)."

OK, hope that that helps make things work with TMP again! Thanks for reporting the bug either way. :-)
