Work item spawned off of Bug 943723 (but with a less stressful title). Niko pointed out on IRC that it would be good to have better testing of the logic in the TypedObjectBuilder code, (i.e. of corner cases like the one that hit us on Bug 943723). So I'm filing this bug and assigning it to myself so that I remember to do this, but without leaving the more-scary-titled aforementioned bug open for that task.
