From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.3) Gecko/20010808 BuildID: 2001080814 Sometimes when composing a message you enter an email address in the To field yet Mail doesn't seem to recognize it as valid. It displays a error message when you try to send the message. You have to close the msg window and recreate the message again. Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create new message. 2. Enter address. 3. Watch it fail (sometimes). Actual Results: See attached screenshot. Expected Results: The address was valid. It should have worked.

I have not been able to reproduce this problem on linux 2001-08-13-06 and few recent builds. Please reopen only with reproduceable steps so that this can get fixed. For now marking worksforme.

The problem is that it is intermitant. And I have no idea why it is happening or how to even reliably reproduce the bug. But it does exist.
I have the same problem. It happens for me on 0.9.4 and 0.9.5. For me it happens consistently for the first message I try to send after opening MailNews. After that, it works fine.

reopening since the reporter comments suggest that he is still seeing this problem Reporter, Do you have any ldap settings used for this profile? Can you also try this on a recent build to see if it is still happening. Because in your recent comments you did not mention the build id.

No LDAP settings. Build ID:2001101201. I'll see what I can do about trying it on a recent build.

I'm not the only one who gets this. Yeah! I too noticed that the problem is only apparent when you create your first email message after starting Moz. basically nothing related to the "To" field works. No autocomplete, no drop down, nothing.

commercial build: 2001-12-14-06 linux RH 6.2 I have not encountered this problem for a while on the latest builds. Marking worksforme. Please reopen if this happens on the newer build.
