I've found a way to automate soft keyboard display on tablet devices in Win8. Unfortunately this only works on devices which have the soft keyboard enabled, which by default is on devices that have a touch digitizer.
I'm going to use this bug to explore getting the soft keyboard enabled on our test slaves so we can write tests for it.

From what I've been reading, the touch and handwriting services likely aren't running. I'm not sure if turning these on will get the soft kebaord working, but it's worth a shot. Filing a bug on getting access to a slave to poke around.

We're moving from Win8 to Win10 for testing soon.
