RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 610534

People

(Reporter: educmale, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20131112160018

Steps to reproduce:

Receive a mail, and forward it.

Settings: HTML composition; Inline Forward; View Headers ALL; Collapsed headers (the small "plus" sign)

Actual results:

A) The composition window includes the entire header, inline, encased inside a table.

B) The table elements provide the only way to delete the table without destroying the HTML and layout of the forwarded email (is this a separate bug, rather than an awkward consequence?). That is, one can't just select and delete, as a useful workaround to the bug.

Expected results:

1) The composition window should have included the simplified subject header, but not the entire header.

2a) The header should be untabled, if placed in line as text.
2b) The table should have some way to delete it, simply.

These (1 and 2a) used to be the behavior, more or less. 2b is a new problem for me.

NOTE:
These behaviors appear to be linked to the view headers ALL setting. I regularly find myself wanting to view a header's individual elements, but rely on the subject pane's "expansion plus" to access it on demand. To be able to do that, simply, the view ALL must be set.

NOTE: There seems to have been history of fixes on this narrow issue, or on similar UI issues, that came unfixed when I started using the view ALL to make the 'plus' expansion work as expected. Alternatively, it came unfixed when the 'plus' started working right for me -- either by its own bug fix or something else I've done in configuration. I suspect that David Bienvenu and Ludovic are going to recognize what's going on.

See Bug 464782, for example.

The other bugs that have history, that I've found, include: Bug 505438, Bug 610534 (but this might precede the plus expansion fix?), Bug 244432, Bug 246579 (marked resolved fixed, but see the patches referenced in earlier bugs)

These all seem to carve different experiences, settings/add-ons.

I am identifying this as a separate bug because the inline forwarding does NOT respond to the setting of the 'plus' expansion.
Ah. I see I have had the add-on "Compact Headers" -- which makes the 'plus' a non-core tool. Perhaps we should re-open 464782 ? Am I duplicating 610534, then ? Or have I identified a different bug view...?
Joe, can you assess?
