(Whiteboard: [gfx-noted])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.9; rv:27.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/27.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20131209004003

Steps to reproduce:

Open a Google Docs spreadsheet
Starts to scroll up and down with an Apple Magic mouse or the touchpad

Actual results:

Scrolling is not very responsive. It scrolls sometimes, but most of the time, it doesn't scroll at all. I can scroll fine with the keyboard

Expected results:

Scrolling should respond probably to the mouse events
Just tried this and I think there are two different problems depending on the scrolling direction.

In vertical scrolling, there is a noticeable lag between starting to scroll and the page actually moving. This is *not* present in the current release (26) version. So we evidently changed something that causes this regression.

Horizontal scrolling on the other hand doesn't work properly in any version of (Mac) Firefox. It doesn't trigger at unless you do a tiny vertical scroll first.

Evidently Google also built a feature into spreadsheets, that allows switching between sheets using horizontal two-finger flicks (which only works in Nightly?). Perhaps this causes some collision with horizontal scrolling.
I'm not certain if this is my bug or if i should create another, but i have been experiencing that last part: Horizontally scrolling in Google Drive spread-sheets (Aurora 28) using my MBA track pad is absolutely unusable. Attempting to do so results either in nothing happening at all or the spread-sheet tab switching.

Since i have the track-pad-style scroll bars (i.e., they only appear when needed), this makes horizontal scrolling in spread-sheets EXTREMELY tedious, as it requires that i first scroll vertically (which does seem to work, although the pace/acceleration is different from normal — possibly intentionally) to make the scroll bars appear, and then get my mouse over to the horizontal one quickly enough before it disappears again.

It sounds like the thing that I am experiencing too, so this should be the same bug.
I have the same problem - scroll on OS X Mavericks not usable on Firefox 27. On Firefox 26 it was better (but not perfect).

Ever confirmed: true

I can confirm that the horizontal scrolling issue has been there for quite some time, and the vertical scrolling issue was introduced in 27.

Workaround: the whole document scrolls just fine if you are hovering over one of the scroll bars (horizontal or vertical).
Removed from Desktop Backlog based on team input from triage session.

Does this bug reproduce on the latest nightly version(45.0a1)?

This predates APZ and sounds like it's OSX specific.

AFAICT with apz this is an obsolete bug. We're doing work on google doc perf in other areas as well.
