On Simplified Chinese Windows editions(I've tried me & 2000), after entering some Chinese characters, the mail content textbox stops responding to cursor keys and accept letters in reverse order(i.e. I type ABC and get CBA!). I think this affects all Simplified Chinese Windows versions. This seems also apply to textareas in the browser so maybe it is a widget problem. This problem have been there ever since I first tried Mozilla. It makes Mail/News totally unusable on Simplified Chinese Windows.
Did you mean you had the same problem in HTML composer? Does it always happen or only happen after you enter some special Chinese characters? Thanks.
Confirmed the bug. I saw this when using Intelligent ABC Input Method on Simplified Chinese W2K. It happens on HTML composer as well. Changed the product to browser and QA contact to Yuying.

Please see bug 88245 for a similar case - the reporter original case was on Traditional chinese, but my comment on 2001-07-09 15:43 was on Simplified chinese as well. cc Frank
Yuying, the bug number you mentioned seems wrong.
Sorry, I meant 88425.

I talked with Xinaglan, seems when she switch to "Intelligent ABC Input Method" (zhi neng ABC) from some other IME, then will see the problem. I checked this IME on my Win2k - I can input chinese or english characters if I start from it. But if I switch to it from some other IME, I'll get crash some times - I have a bug 90595 about the switch issue. Reporter: which Chinese IME did you use when you saw the problem? are you talking about you can not edit Chinese text at all or under some condition? Thanks!

I checked the latest build #2001082109. It turns out that with the IMEs coming with W2k Prof. Simplified Chinese, Microsoft Pinyin and Intelligent ABC is alright. But Complete Pinyin(Quan Pin) has the problem. The Wubi 86 IME coming with Office 2k also has the problem. Yes, this problem occurs in Mail/News composer, HTML composer and even in text areas in HTML forms.
I think this is a duplicate of #88425. Notice that the reporter of #88425 is using Traditional Chinese.
Yes, the reporter of bug 88425 was using traditional chinese, but we have comments about same problem on simplified chinese there as well. I think we should make it as dup of bug 88425.
move to moz0.9.5. Not problem for Japanese IME.
Target Milestone: mozilla0.9.4 → mozilla0.9.5

This is definitely a duplicate of 88425. Marking as such. Please reopen if someone thinks otherwise.
