I have an email alias that I like to use for accounts instead of my official LDAP email address and this causes problems any time a site uses Persona (etherpad being a common example): I get the Persona window where I choose my email alias, that brings me to an LDAP authetication page where my email alias is uneditable and, since it's an alias, LDAP authetication fails. If instead I choose my official LDAP email address, then LDAP login succeeds, but the overall login fails because my LDAP email is not the one I used to create the account.
Amusingly, this does work: I attempt to log in with my LDAP email, this fails, but then I relog in with my email alias which, because of some short-term session information, or something, skips LDAP authentication and then succeeds.
[Sorry if this is the wrong component; I'm just guessing.]
