on helix phone, 1.2 entering camera mode for first time or on return back from gallery to camera mode, the viewfinder goes black. STR: 1) Open camera app from app screen. or 1) from camera app, select the gallery 2) return to camera tested results: In each case, after a brief moment, the camera viewer goes black 'til the camera button on the screen is touched (sometimes motion may also bring viewer to life) expected results: the viewer comes on and stays on for view finding.
QA Wanted to find out: 1. Does this reproduce on 1.3 & 1.4 Helix devices?

(In reply to Jason Smith [:jsmith] from comment #2) Using the STR provided, > 1. Does this reproduce on 1.3 & 1.4 Helix devices? This does not reproduce on latest v1.3 Helix build. Okay - we need better STR then. Can someone look into trying to get a more clear STR of this bug on a Helix device?

> tested results: In each case, after a brief moment, the camera viewer goes > black 'til the camera button on the screen is touched (sometimes motion may > also bring viewer to life) This happens to me all the time on my helix, in the gallery app, too. The graphics are completely unstable. Weird flickers. Stuff that doesn't update until you touch the screen or hit the home button and return. I've assumed that it is a firmware issue on my device and I need to update. It would be good to know if the reporter found lots of bugs like this and if they had a fully up-to-date device or not. To me it is the "sometimes motion may also bring the viewer to life" in the bug report that makes this sound familiar to me.
I reflashed my helix with a 1.2 build from pvtbuilds and I can not reproduce this bug. (Previously I think I had a 1.3 build on it and the camera was not working at all)
David, yes, all sorts of flickering type issues that were not just in the camera. During the bug bash, on Friday, Tony first thought it was just the device, so he gave me another of the same (Helix 1.2) and I was able to reproduce this and bug 949806 rather easily.
Can we double check we can still reproduce this on the latest 1.2 Helix build?

(In reply to Jason Smith [:jsmith] from comment #8) > Can we double check we can still reproduce this on the latest 1.2 Helix > build? I cannot reproduce this issue on the latest v1.2 Helix build, For COM or MOZ RIL. Opening the camera is behaving as expected. There is a slight flicker from a black screen to the camera viewerfinder when switching back to the camera app from the gallery, however not to the extent of the bug write-up. At no point between switching apps did the viewfinder remain on a black screen until input or motion was recieved.
