I was testing on a phone where the contacts were linked from a Facebook account, which resulted in approximately 500-1000 contacts in the phone book.

What happened:
1. I had three applications running in the background (e.g. gallery, text message and the browser)
2. I started the phone application
3. I switch from the dialer to the recent calls screen
4. I switch from the recent calls to the contacts screen
5. I send the phone app into the background by pressing the home button
6. I hold the home button long to get the task manager

A few times the task manager would show me the name of the phone app and the X button in the upper left corner, but without any screen content of the app. The other three apps (see above) were still running. When I switched for example to the gallery app and then go back to the task manager the phone app got terminate in the background, although it was the most recently started app.
When the phone app showed up in the task manager with no screen it was impossible to switch back to the phone app.

In other occasions after step 6. from above the task manager would show a image of the dialer screen for the phone. In these cases again it was impossible to switch to the phone app.

After lots of retries it seemed like the big amount of contacts were already properly synchronized/loaded the task manager properly terminate older applications like the gallery or the browser and kept the most recently started phone app running.

Please verify the result of synchronizing big contacts list in the background onto the algorithm deciding which applications gets terminate to free up memory.
