Please Note When accessing our site with Netscape, version 6.0, you may have trouble logging on to view your Janus portfolio as well as accessing other portions of the site. For a better Web experience, we recommend using Netscape , version 4.76, or Internet Explorer, version 5.0 or higher. You can download the Netscape browser or Internet Explorer browser now. Or, send us an e-mail with your name and mailing address, and we'll send you a CD that includes both upgrades and downloading instructions. (This CD does not include AOL.) If you can't log on and need account or fund information right away, call Janus XpressLine at 1-888-979-7737, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. You may also call a Janus Representative at 800-975-9932, Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm EST. You can continue to janus.com without upgrading.
We need to talk to them and see if it's just an issue where they need to "approve" us or if they have a real evangelism issue. bc: you should probably open up a bugscape bug for this too. Zach

phoneix too. I don't see any problems after clicking the "continue anyway" link. Why not ask them what their specific problem was? It's been over a year, maybe it's been fixed.
Does anyone here have an account with these people? Do you have any problems using their site in anyway? Can you contact them as a *customer* and ask what the issue is?

using the menus gives: Error: obj is not defined Source File: http://ww3.janus.com/js/retail/menuScript.js Line: 1126 Error: menu0child3obj is not defined Source File: http://ww3.janus.com/js/retail/menuScript.js Line: 1103 Error: e.target.id has no properties Source File: http://ww3.janus.com/js/retail/menuScript.js Line: 1261 Error: Containerobj is not defined Source File: https://ww3.janus.com/js/Retail/menuScript.js Line: 1196
I had sent an email to Janus via their web site, and I got a reply back, the body of which (without the names) is given below. Damn the unsophisticated masses ;) <extracted_quote> According to our web designers, over 98% of the traffic on janus.com is through standard browsers such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Communicator. As a result, the sight has been designed to work best with those types of browsers. I agree with you that the Mozilla browser is a much better browser than Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator; however, since it requires a higher degree of sophistication to use, most people who use the internet will use the easier browsers and our site will most likely continue to focus on supporting those browsers. </extracted_quote>
They mention "Netscape Communicator". I thought Gecko had long since overtaken Netscape 4 in market share. And how does Netscape 7 or the latest Compuserve "require a higher degree of sophistication to use" than Netscape 4?
Same replay as I got when I wrote when I first filed the bug. There just is no interest in a solution at all.

> Does anyone here have an account with these people? Do you have any problems > using their site in anyway? The main problem with the site is that the menus are unusable since they close whenever you try to move the mouse. In IE, the menu hiding fires on a timer, but they use separate JS for Mozilla, which does not use a timer. Hacking a timer in made the menus work. There are various other problems in other parts of the site if you log in. In a couple places, the JS assumes that Mozilla handles document.all and IEish "event".
report to webmaster@mozilla.org today... go to http://ww4.janus.com/Janus/Retail/RetailHomepage and put the mouse over the My Janus Account and then try moving down to select an item. The drop down disappears. looks like they still are not working on any fixes...
Can we try this approach by having them "support" Netscape 7.1 if they'd be more supportive of "Netscape" vs "Mozilla"? The site seems to generally work fine outside of the warning message and the dropdown menus.

Curiously, this doesn't work each time when I point my mouse cursor from the menu header directly to the text content of the first submenu item. This works better when I move the cursor to the background of this item ; the cursor is not transformed into a hand, but I can now move into the submenu without too much problem (the flicker effect does not work when I'm over a link) ; But by this (strange ?) tip The menu remains quite usable (IMHO).

The menus and a couple other minor site features work, but not everything (I couldn't download statements as PDFs).
They've redesigned the site (with Flash, ugh!) and things seem to work now. Are there any outstanding issues?
