Confirmed under Mac/2001081308 and Mac/2001081412 on Mac OS 9.1; Mozilla becomes very unresponsive after loading and trying to display this page (though the Flash content plays, at least the sound part of it). Something's wonky with at least the Flash plug-in on these recent nightlies.

Confirm that this bug is WFM in NS6.1. I guess that it's related to the fix of Bug 91034 I will attach 2 testcases: 1) One with the original page but w/o the background image (1x3px) where the bug is WFM in 0.9.3+ (2001081708) 2) Only the background image who reproduces the bug. I thing it's the same behavior that we find in NS4.7x Mac with very tiny background images (1x1px)... -> CC pierre@netscape.com -> Change for ImageLib -> regression

Thanks Benjamin. I confirm the problem with the "Background gif only" testcase above. The regression seems to be coming from the recent landing in ImageLib (bug 78690). Changed summary to "Small (1px*1px) gif backgrounds are much slower". Reassigned to ImageLib.

Other exemple where backgrounds seem to really slowdown Moz: http://tva.canoe.ca/ Also very bad performance on redraw when browser window or part is hidden.

Reopening: bug 86694 is Mac-only and even though the present bug is indeed filed against the Mac, we still need to check whether the regression exists on other platforms too.
