Same issue in MAC OS X 10.9.1

As hinted in Wayne's comment 1, this is most likely caused by an addon. Can you please report if you still see this bug after restarting Thunderbird in Thunderbird Safe Mode? https://support.mozillamessaging.com/kb/safe-mode If there's no reply, we will close this bug incomplete.

(In reply to iamjayakumars from comment #5) > Same Issue in safemode also. > Tested in MAC OS X 10.9.01 iamjayakumars, thanks for rapid feedback. 1) Are you using native MAC OS address book? 2) Are you using LDAP? 3) Are you normally using MoreFunctionsForAddressBook or any other addon that manipulates address book functions? If yes, can you please list the names/links of these addons here? 4) Can you attach screenshot of problem to this bug (pls black out private data)?

ftr, using TB 29.0a1 (2013-12-20) on WinXP with local TB AB only, I do not see this bug, autocomplete works as expected.

No, I imported google contacts to thunderbird, so i'm using that. 2. NO, As i said above, imported google contacts as ".csv" file. 3. No, i"m not using any addons for addressbook, Two addons i'm using for calendar (Lightning & Provider for Google Calendar) 4. Please check the below comment for Addressbook and Write Mail Screenshot.

Thomas, I identified the issue is because of import from google contact. In google, we use Home Email, Work Email. So when importing it saves as Home, So thunderbird not identifying the email address and it shows in red. See the below attachment, In that email address, if the addreess is available(Red arrow) its shows in the write email (red arrow). If the email is not available in the email column and its shows in red in the write email (blue arrow), but see the address details there you can find the email id in home.

(In reply to iamjayakumars from comment #14) > Created attachment 8351635 [details] > address.png iamjayakumars, thanks for your great and quick analysis of the problem! You should join us in TB bug triage, we need intelligent and cooperative volunteers like you... :) So per comment 12, this bug has morphed quite radically and indeed it doesn't look like an addon problem (so iamjayakumars was right) but it doesn't look like a general failure of autocomplete either (so I was also right ;). So first of all, it's an import/export issue, and perhaps in the "TB general AB design" territory, which unfortunately is a very old can of worms... Could you provide a sample .csv file but please this time remove all your personal data like email addresses etc. and just fill some sample stuff like foo@bar.com. Essentially, we mostly need the structure of the csv (plus some test data) so that bug triagers can play with it more easily to reproduce exactly your scenario. N.B. You might want to add a shorter bmo display name others can more easily refer to, instead of your long and very unique email address...
