Steps to reproduce:

Select a message to read in either the 3-pane window or the standalone message window


Actual results:

It takes several minutes for the message to be displayed on Mac OS X.  I'm not positive but I believe this issue started with version 24.1.1.  I am currently running version 24.2.0.  I have tested with Mac OS X 10.8.5 and 10.9.1.  My NAS device is the ReadyNAS Duo v1.  I have tested the NAS with RAIDiator versions 4.1.12 and 4.1.13 (Sparc).

Note:  This issue only exists on my iMac (20-inch, Early 2009).  Thunderbird performance is very good when accessing the same profile from my Windows XP desktop.  The NAS performance is acceptable on the iMac when running other applications.


Expected results:

The message displays within a second on my Windows XP desktop.
If I move the Thunderbird profile from my NAS to the local drive, then performance is very good on my iMac as well.
