The protocole plugins are not loaded when the absolute path of the instantbird directory contains non ascii characters.

Additionnaly, it seems there is an issue with libpurple creating log files when the profile directory contains non ascii characters.

Tested only on Windows XP.

Converting the path string from native charset to UTF8 before giving it to libpurple fixed this on Windows.

We should reopen this if it's now broken on other systems.
