There's a drawing error on the conversation window, when resizing the nicklist at an IRC chat.

For details see attached image.

CORRECTION:

The error doesn't depend on the nicklist but on the size of the whole window.

Resizing it to a small width makes the scrollbar on the chat part (normal chat, no nicklist) and the sizing handle on the statusbar go out of the window on the right hand side.

Adding a new screenshot under winXP SP3 and last nightly at the date of this comment.

Need to check whether or not it happens on other platforms.

Same happens when resizing the windows vertically and the browser (conversation area) gets so small that it isn't resized any further).
The textbox will go behind the browser element and borders and such are lost/messed up.

If someone cares, there are 2 possible ways to resolve this:
* either hide the nicklist automatically when the window isn't wide enough, using CSS media queries
* or wait for Mozilla's bug about supporting size constraints on windows (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357725) to be fixed, and add a min-width on conversation windows that is > the min width of the conversation browser + the default width of the nicklist (and resize the nicklist down to that size automatically when the window is down sized; we have similar code for the textbox already).

Bio 357725 is fixed now, with target Mozilla 17 (our update to Mozilla 17 is tracked in bug 955036 (bio 1606)).
Depends on: 955036
On the behalf of Florian:
Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
