*** Original post on bio 373 at 2010-03-10 16:37:00 UTC *** Clicking a link doesn't do anything when the action for the protocol (ie http/https in this case) is set to "Always ask" but no choices being available (empty list, no program has been added yet via "Use other..."). Expected behaviour: popup dialog anyways since it contains a "Choose an application" item in the list (or even proceed to this dialog directly).
*** Original post on bio 373 by Chris Hills <chaz AT chaz6.com> at 2010-03-10 19:58:59 UTC *** I have this problem also with a KDE 4.4 desktop.
*** Original post on bio 373 at 2010-03-10 22:27:40 UTC *** Chris: go to the preferences dialog, applications pane, and add an action for the protocols from there, ie set one through "Use other...". It's not that it's not possible, it's just neither saying how to do it nor providing easy access to it (popup the add action aka "Use other..." dialog when clicking a link with no defined action).
Summary: Nothing happens when action="Always ask" and no choices available yet → Nothing happens when clicking links and action="Always ask" with no choices available yet
On the behalf of Florian: Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
