Windows users can set an icon for their user account. Maybe we can use this to suggest a user icon?

I'm only afraid many people use tiny robots, waves, flowers and other default icons there that they wouldn't like to use somewhere else.

Don't forget the soccer ball!

flo also mentioned you can do this on Mac OS, seems like we'd need to roll our own way to get to it though?

Here's information about the situation on Windows. There doesn't seem to be an API for this but the location of the image file seems to be known/readable from a certain file.

Sample extension

*** Original post on bio 848 as attmnt 832 at 2011-09-18 18:56:00 UTC ***

The attached extensions fetchs login name and user icon of the current user and replaces the displayname and user icon with it.

It doesn't ask and it doesn't care for existing images and names. It just does its job everytime it starts. Use at your own risk.

Works only on Windows 7.
