*** Original post on bio 883 by Will Rogers <wjrogers AT gmail.com> at 2011-06-30 16:12:00 UTC *** New content in the scrolling conversation window initially appears very close to the bottom of the panel. Over a short time, maybe about a minute, it inches upward pixel by pixel until there is a fair amount of space between the content and the input box splitter. I am using the Bubbles theme, blue and gray alternating, on Instantbird 1.0.
*** Original post on bio 883 at 2011-06-30 16:24:07 UTC *** This was added as part of the Time Bubbles theme, please see http://blog.instantbird.org/a42-introducing-time-bubbles.html for an explanation. I'll leave this open for now though it's not actually a bug.

I'll leave this open for now though it's not actually a bug. I've tried if we can lessen this effect by using a transition here but it doesn't animate sub-pixel-steps. Before you think that I'm completely nuts: I wasn't sure if they didn't do something cool for non-integer positions, something antialiasing-like that gives the feeling that the resolution is higher than it actually is by moving a bit of the color of one pixel to the next.
*** Original post on bio 883 at 2011-07-01 08:35:18 UTC *** (In reply to comment #2) I believe subpixel anti-aliasing only work horizontally, not vertically. Moving of non-integer positions may have an effect on the shadow computation and reduce slightly the perceived 1px "jump", but I wouldn't bet on it.
*** Original post on bio 883 at 2012-02-13 19:34:43 UTC *** (Most RGB monitors have the RGB stripes oriented vertically, so there is indeed no vertical subpixel anti-aliasing on most devices.) Resolving this as wontfix, please reopen if some subtle smooth scroll timing trick or suchlike shows up... ;)
