The reduced opacity on restored messages (http://hg.instantbird.org/instantbird/diff/d813e070a71d/instantbird/themes/messages/bubbles/main.css) currently is also applied to the unread messages. I suspect this was not intended behaviour (as you would restore a hidden conv and want to quickly find the point where the unread messages begin).

I'd also like to vote for keeping the text in restored messages at closer to full opacity to enhance the legibility, if this is possible (i.e. just fading the bubble itself).

Thanks for reporting!

The issue is visible only if the restored conversation is added in a tab of an existing conversation window. When a new conversation window opens to show the conversation, I don't think the issue exists.

I have an easy fix for this, I'll push it tonight.

There is still an edge case that doesn't work: when the new message becomes part of an existing speech bubble, desaturation is applied.

This isn't easy enough to fix that I could do it right now in 5 minutes or so. If we don't want to forget about this, a new bug for this issue would be a good idea.
Depends on: 954435
