Hello,

it would be useful to be able to select emoticons from a list of available emoticons.
Add a button with an emoticon on it.
If the user clicks this button, show a popup where the user can select the desired emoticon.

I know that I just have to type an emoticon like :-)
But it would be more comfortable to select it from a menu.
Also for beginners.

Hello,

the Add-On "Smart Emoticons Toolbar 0.1.5b" would help, but it is not compatible with Instantbird 1.1.
Also SmileyBar is not compatible.

I wonder that this is not implemented directly in Instantbird...

This is kind of part of bug 954070 (bio 634), I'm not sure whether it depends on it or blocks it or dups it. :) Confirming for now.

Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
