It would be nice to have a keyboard shortcut to open and close the participant list using only the keyboard (if there is a way to do that with the keyboard already then it is well hidden;)
Suggestions and remarks:
Ctrl+P, for _p_articipants (used for printing in many applications)
Ctrl+Shift+P, for _p_articipants (used for toggling private browsing in Firefox)
Ctrl+U, for _u_sers (Firefox uses this to open the "show source" window)
Ctrl+Shift+U, for _u_sers (unused in Firefox, no common action in other applications either)

On the behalf of Florian:
Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
