Middle clicking a conversation on hold should close the conversation entirely. Middle click already closes tabs (and even windows with Vista and Win 7)

Mouse interactions with contacts, group labels or conversations on hold need some attention in general.
On Windows:
* Double-clicks with the middle or right button should no longer trigger the default action (which are "Open conversation", "Open/Collapse" and "Restore from hold" respectively).
* Middle clicks on conversations on hold should close the conversation, as initially requested.
I'd morph the bug to include the other cases if nobody objects.
@aleth, @flo: what's the expected behaviour on the (=your) Linux desktop and MacOS?

I forgot to mention that middle or right clicks on the unread counters shouldn't open the conversation either.

I'm not sure I agree with this. In Firefox a middle click on a tab closes it, but a middle click on a link opens it in a new tab. It's not really clear if the situation when middle clicking on an item there is closer to clicking a link or a tab, so users could be confused. I would prefer the solution that doesn't cause dataloss (ie a single middle click on a conv on hold should restore it.)

I don't know (I always use the macbook's touchpad which doesn't have buttons, so middle click doesn't exist, and double right click is difficult enough to make that it's unlikely to actually be used). I would need to plug an external mouse to test...

This seems right for Linux too.

I agree with flo that it's not clear if users think of these entries as more like tabs (->close) or more like links (->open). Personally I think middle-click=close would be more useful, but I'm not sure we can risk it.

On the behalf of Florian:
Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
