Look at the top of the area where the nick is displayed and the border above it (on "Screenshot 1"), there's a tiny gap (1px of the display wide), which is there (and the same) on most zoom levels. I wouldn't know how we could have messed up our CSS to have this effect, maybe it's a problem in the rendering engine.

The mismatched border-radius' in this picture are not concern of this bug, this was filed as bug 955207 (bio 1775) instead (and a problem of our CSS).

On the behalf of Florian:
Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
