http://instantbird.com/faq.html#systreq states:
Instantbird currently supports Windows 2000 or later, Mac OS X 10.5 or later, and Linux. See the system requirements page for details.
Instantbird doesn't support Windows 2000 anymore. Instantbird 1.2 supports Windows XP SP2 or later.

We will take care of this before releasing Instantbird 1.3, it's already tracked as bug 955068 (bio 1638).
